In late 2010, Tessera Solar North America will break ground on two of the world’s largest solar plants – both in California. Working with San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Edison, our Imperial Valley project and our Calico project will produce a combined 1,600MW of clean, renewable energy. Together, they will use over 64,000 SunCatcher™ units...Solar energy at a scale the world has never seen.

Tessera Solar | EPC: Engineering, Procurement and Construction

The Tessera Solar EPC department is responsible for plant design, materials supply, balance of plant (BOP) and complete construction for the solar power park installations. The EPC process begins with site selection, permitting, construction, and finally turning over a solar power plant to Tessera Solar operations.

The EPC teams are currently focused on two solar projects:Solar Two (Imperial valley) and Solar One (Calico) in southern California. Below is a sample of the key project facts:

Design & Installation | Jobs
14,000 acres, 70,000 SunCatchers™, over 500 miles of roads, over 1000 transformers, on-site-Assembly buildings, Offices, Maintenance Facilities, Water and Waste Treatment Facilities.
Local Economics | Growth
Throughout these processes relationship-partnerships are built with local independent developers, construction companies and other related industries. Many hundreds of new jobs throughout the power plant construction process, a two-to-four year period, with hundreds more permanent positions to follow for operations and maintenance.
